ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE :Alzheimer's disease which is cause of dementia . It is a main factor of destroying memory  and   thinking ability. Alois Alzheimer  the inventor (1906) noticed change in the brain tissue which is the main cause of mental illness.Alzheimer's disease is a great correlation with Diabetes.

CAUSES:Age  , Family history , Genetics,environmental problem,diet,over exercise,heart disease ,,protein called beta-amyloid, head injury.

SYMPTOMS: Getting lost , Difficulty managing money and paying bills , Repetitive questions and conversations , Taking longer than usual to finish routine daily tasks, poor judgment ,losing things ,Depression , Anxiety ,Social withdrawal ,mood swings , Distrust in others ,Increased stubbornness, wandering,irritability and aggressiveness, sleeping disorder ,disorientation,delusions .
DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS: Computerize tomography Scan(C T) , Positron emission tomography (p e t), Magnetic resonance imaging (M R I) , Brain imaging .
Mental test:showing a time by drawn a clock face toward the patient; asking name,date and location ;follow 3step command ; copy a design ;counting backward ; Remember a list of 3 word ;write down a complete sentence ;follow written instruction .
MEDICATION  & TREATMENT: 1) Aricept (donepezil) ; work: prevent the breakdown of brain's acetyl-choline . Side effects : vomiting,fatigue, diarrhea,dizziness,loss of appetite,trouble sleeping, weight loss.
2)Cognex (tacrine) ;work:prevent the breakdown of brain's acetyl-choline.Side effects : Gastric,muscle pain ,vomiting,stomach pain,stuffy nose, liver damage.
3)Exelon (rivastigmine) ; work : prevent the breakdown of brain's acetyl-choline. Side effects :Colon problem ,Nausea ,diarrhea,muscle weakness,loss of appetite ,dizziness .

Psychological problem can solve by changing patient life style.
PREVENTIVE DIETS: Omega3 , Omega 6 ,vitamin E , Vitamin B12
DIET CONTROL: red meat ,food with high butter fat (hot dogs, hamburgers) ,Salt ,caffeine ,Chocolate ,Soft drinks, Alcohol ,Hydrogenated oils.
